NEWBERRY RITES HELD TODAY (Panama City News Herald, Panama City, Bay Co., FL... 25 Nov 1949)

Dr. J. H. Avery Will Officiate

Funeral services for Grover Cleveland Newberry, 62, are to be held this afternoon from the Wilson chapel and the Rev. J. H. Avery of the First Baptist Church will officiate.

Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Mr. Newberry, former city water superintendent, was found dead in an alley just off Fourth Street yesterday. Peace Justice J. W. Folkes said death was apparently due to natural causes. No inquest was held.

Survivors include four sons, Randall, Mobile, and Ralph, G. C. Jr. and William, all of Panama City; and four daughters, Mrs. Kermit Loftin of Monticello, Mrs. H. H. Fooks of Miami and Mrs. Paul Eddins and Mrs. H. B. Hartsfield both of Panama City. Wilson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

MRS. NEWBERRY, RESIDENT, DIES

Mrs. J. C. Newberry, widow of the late J. C. Newberry of Panama City, died early last night at a local hospital.

Mrs. Newberry had been making her home here with her daughter, Mrs. Paul Eddins, 900 2nd place.

She is survived by her mother, Mrs. W. T. Brooks, Dothan; three other daughters, Mrs. H. B. Hartsfield of Panama City, Mrs. Harry Fookes of Mobile, and Mrs. Kermit Loftin of Panama City; four sons, Randall Newberry of Mobile, G. C. Newberry of New Orleans, Ralph Newberry of Panama City and Bill Newberry of Panama City; three sisters, Mrs. Clara Sellars of Dothan, Mrs. Charley Newberry of Miami and Mrs. Charley Harrison of Birmingham; two brothers, Foy Brooks of Dothan; and 21 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Wilson Funeral Home.
