Thanks Charlene - this info is correct. May I add that in 1850 Margaret is living with her grandfather Perie O Neil.
Also - Margaret's mother died about 1848 - Thomas remarried another Catherine -
I believe it's in the 1865 census that we learn his name was Patrick Barry - so the natural thought would be to think the morther's married name before marrying Thomas was Catherine Barry - No clues so far as to her maiden name.
The puzzling period of Margaret's life is from 1870 to 1890 wnen she married George Martin Knefley.
During that time period she is supposed to have married a Thomas Murphy. They are supposed to have had a child Frankie. Thomas & Frankie are to have died.
The only think I have to go on right now - is a potential find with a deep involving land in Walesville, NY, The Margaret in the will - did a procedure to get the land into her name because it appears the husband was dead. She then sold the land.
Margaret Fitzsimmons Knefley - died in 1917 at Binghamton State Hospital.
