The Patrick Fitzsimmons of which you speak was a member of the Big Springs Presbyterian Church which is actually in Newville, Pa. Various transcripts of Church records are at the Cumberland County Historical Society in Carlisle, Pa, and show that he was on the membership rolls in 1822, and died in 1844. Elizabeth Fitzsimmons who I understand was his wife, was on the membership rolls in 1822, and in 1844 "went over to the Methodists."
I assume that this Patrick is likely a descendant of the Patrick Fitsimmons who who was in Huntingdon in 1776. I know for a fact that another of his descendants, Patrick Fitsimmons Carothers, was a member of this church in the same time frame. Hope this information is of use to you.
