I am trying to find info. on Richard(b.c1925) and Eliza (b.c1925)FITZSIMONS who came to Dunedin NZ in 1853 from Melborne. I have no idea how long they were in Melbourne but do know that they both came from Belfast, Ireland. On the birth certificate of their only son John (b.Jan 1864 Dunedin) Eliza was listed as "formerly FITZSIMONS". This could mean that Eliza's maiden name was FITZSIMONS or that she was the widow of a FITZSIMONS. Family folklaw suggests that they were cousins. I have searched the NSW and Victoria BDM's for any marriage or birth of another child, to no avail. I have also been unscuccesful in finding thier names in any passenger list from Ireland to Australia
