I have been research my Simmons line and have gotten back to James Simmons Sr. born August 14, 1764 in SC? He was Married to Eleanor Lee.

I haven't been able to figure out who James' parents were. Then I got this message from my uncle Leonard...

I thought I should mention that Dad was insistant that we were from Scotland
(actually Scot-Irish from the highlands around the Scotland-Ireland border).
Dad was adament that the ancestrial name was FRITZSIMMONS and would always spell it so we would not get it mixed up with Fitzsimmons. He said they dropped the FRITZ when them came to America. I do not know where he got the
information or how relyable it is.

Can y'all help me with this? Have any of you run across any Fritzsimmons' from the early to mid 1700's??

Michele
