Fritzsimmons is not likely. Fitz is Norman for "son of". Fitzsimmons means "son of Simon". "Simon" and sometimes "Simmons" used as abbreviations or Anglicaized variants of Fitzsimmons.

Ire. and Scot don't share a border, as Ire. is an island separated from Britian by the Irish Sea .
