James went from Ireland, where he helped build ships, to America about 1850. He was quartermaster on a ship in the Civil War. He later became a newspaperman. At one time he lived in Auburn, Placer, CA and in Nebraska, back and forth, died in Neb. His son was Thomas F. Fitzsimmons (or Fitzsimons) Thomas (b. abt 1820, PA) was the youngest of brothers: Frank, Edward & Daniel. Thomas F. married Elizabeth Maguire (abt 1840 PA) in about 1848, in PA. Children: Mary A. (Mrs. L. B. Scott), Elizabeth not married), Helena (Mrs. F. C. Brown), Thomas, Frances, Ellen C., Josephine (Mrs. Cooksey) and Cassie (Mrs. Meyers. James was married to Elizabeth Hanover first and secondly married Abigail Stokes. lymaxwell@sbcglobal.net
