I research the Irish Family History Foundation's database. It contains 12,000,000 surviving rcds for abt 65% of Irish counties. Rcds are increasingly sparse B4 1840, rare B4 1800. Note 1 - Without a KNOWN county, the chance of an ancestor's rcds NOT being in this database is AT LEAST 35%. Note 2 - Only 1/2 of Co. Cork's rcds are in this database. Note 3 - The RC church kept control over most parish rcds from Tipperary (north). These are ONLY available thru the Tipperary Family History Research center at a substantial fee (regardless of outcome). For James Fitzpatrick B 1864 (exact) in Co. Cavan with the father's forename unknown, I found 2 rcds. Father's forenames were Peter and Hugh. The parishes are Annagh RC and Holywell RD respectively. For Charles Fitzpatrick B ???? in Co. Cavan with a father forenamed James, the ONLY rcd I found was in 1875. This isn't consistent with the father's DOB. For Cat(herine) Hart M 1888 +/- 4 yrs somewhere in Ireland, I found 16 unique yr/cnty combinations. For James Fitzpatrick M 1888 ditto, I found 49 unique yr/cnty combinations. Only 1 matched with that for Catherine. This was in 1884 Leitrim. However, when screened at the parish level, this was a NO match. The search range was wrong. They married outside Ireland. The rcds didn't survive. Or, rcds haven't been digitized yet. Suggest you visit this database and try a different search range. Google the Foundation's name to lead you to this database. Register, opt to be notified as rcds are added and browse. Pls post your search results to my genforum msg. Hope this helps. Good luck. Notify Administrator about this message?
