Fitzpatrick on Battleship Maine
We have a family story that a Fitzpatrick male (probably a child of Timothy Fitzpatrick and Johanna Cronin of Cork, Ireland) had enlisted in the US Navy and was stationed on the Maine when it exploded and sank in Havana harbor. The story holds that the sailor had enlisted under an assumed name (perhaps of a relative) since he was underaged. The family came to NYC after the death of Timothy in Ireland, abt. 1880.
