Thank you so much for your reply. I really appreciate it. What is your name and where are you from? What I know from my cousin Judy Fitzgibbon Lawson is that John B(wife Mary Buttler)Fitzgibbon was a cousin of my great grandfather John, born 12/1/45,but my cousin found different possible birthdates for my John of 1846 or 1847too! I don't have dates for John B. & Mary Buttler, but I guess they would be somewhat around my John's age, so born in late 1830s or early 1840s?? I have seen their graves but don't remember, can check. I have a fuzzy photo that may read 1886 for year of death for John B. and Mary. John B.'s parents are James & Mary Markahan Fitzgibbon. John B. had a son John Robert, don't know any other names, till now with this info that John B. had a son Thomas. So James(Mary Markahan) is the brother of my John's father if my John and John B. were first cousins. Judy thinks that my John's father was Thomas because of tradition of the first son named after grandfather, as my John's first son was Thomas and John B. has a son Thomas too. My John's father likely would be born in the 1810s or 1820s if John was born in 1845?? Is there any record of other children of John B.? My brother John Fitzgibbon(9/12/1955) had DNA test, also my 1st cousin Thomas Fitzgibbon, Judy's brother. we found we are closely related to Michael Gibbons, their family dropped the Fitz, who also did a DNA test. That is how we proved a connection to a recently found cousin Don Dillin from Maryland. He's descended from one of my John's sons. I was checking the info from Judy and I can't find where she found my john had a brother Patrick. Maybe I just missed it in her notes. I know Don Dillin said that in his emails to our family and he believed my John's parents to be James and MarySullivan. I'm not sure what he found as to records. I don't think we have much. We have my John's marriage cert. but it doesn't have birth dates or parents' names. My cousins found records at St. John's church in Rapids City, Il, but they are about John's kids. I have not joined ancestry.com yet as I don't have a lot of time to search, I'd like to join when I have some vacation time and can really use it. Can you see records on ancestry? like birth, etc from Ireland? Sorry this is so long. I'm just so excited to talk to you about the family history. It's really fun! Thanks again for answering me, and if you have any more info based on this message, I'd love to hear from you!
