I'm posting what I know about the descendants of John Fitzgerald, b. 1805 Ireland d. 1854 LaSalle Co. IL and his wife Ellen Falvey b. abt 1818 Kerry Co., Ire (daughter of ? Falvey and Catherine?]d. 1896 Odell, Livingston Co. IL. Ellen married 2nd to John Noonan. They are my great great grandparents. Ellen and John Fitzgerald had 7 children before John died. Ellen remarried to John Noonan and had 5 more children (one, a twin, died as a baby). John Noonan helped to raise the little Fitzgerald children. The children of John Fitzgerald and Ellen Falvey are:
1.THOMAS FITZGERALD, b. Abt. 1838, Maryland or Massachusetts .
2.MICHAEL FITZGERALD, b. Abt. 1841 Illinois, was living with his sister Catherine Fitzgerald Lynch in 1870 & her family.
3.CATHERINE FITZGERALD, b. January 15, 1842 Illinois. married Denis Lynch b. 1835/36 Ireland. They had these children: Catherine "Kate" 1867, James 1871, Francis A. 1872/73, Denis E. 1878, Julia 1879, Mary M. 1883, David J. 1887. They lived in Utica, Lasalle co IL until late 1890's and moved then to Chicago. Denis Lynch was a grocer/dry goods merchant.
4.ELLEN FITZGERALD, b. Abt. 1844 IL.
5.JOHN FITZGERALD, b. Abt. 1847, MA.? [there are some family stories that Ellen Falvey Fitzgerald went to Massachusetts to get her mother, Catherine Falvey, after her father died. It is possible John was born while she was there.
6.MARY FITZGERALD, b. March 1848, Illinois married Theodore Muffler [Moffler] b. Baden. They lived in Livingston Co., IL, but later moved to Flint, Genessee Co., Michigan They had these children: i.Ida Muffler 1867 died of diphtheria January 1880;ii.John F. Muffler 1869 [believed to have never married][moved to Genessee Michigan];iii.William H. Muffler 1872 [married late in life to Lucille ? and had a child Dorothy M. Muffler– moved to Genessee Michigan]; and iv. Mary Mercy Muffler 1875 married Samuel John O’Connell in Livingston Co., IL, they lived there for awhile where Samuel was a farmer, but later some of the family moved to Genessee Co., MI.Children: Cyril Francis O’Connell b. 1897; John Earl O’Connell, Raymond A. O’Connell, Mary Gwendolyn A. O’Connell, Ama O’Connell
7.AGNES FITZGERALD, b. Abt. 1852 Illinois married Malachi Garrity b. abt 1845 Galway Co. Ireland. Malachi's younger half sister, Annie Garrity, married Agnes's younger half brother, George F. Noonan. George and Annie Garrity Noonan are my great grandparents. Malachi was a farmer in Chatsworth, Livingston Co., IL. Agnes Fitzgerald and Malachi Garrity had these children:
i.Frederick Garrity b. 1872 Married Gertrude? and had children Mary, Helen,Catherine and Fedora S. “Dora”, became a nun
ii. JAMES William GARRITY b. 1874 Married Rose P.- they had Dorothy 1906 and James William Garrity Jr. 1909
iii. Margaret A. Garrity b 1876
iv. EDMUND C. GARRITY, b. August 12, 1879. He owned a successful plumbing supply business in Chicago. His first cousin, Denis E. Lynch worked there with him. Marriage: Mary “Mazie” E.? and they had EDMUND GARRITY 1907,JOHN GARRITY 1909, DONALD GARRITY 1912; THOMAS GARRITY 1913;DAISY GARRITY 1914. Edmund owned a house designed and built by a famous architect in Chicago. Google it!

vi. LEO GARRITY 1889 Married Agnes M ? and had Leo Garrity Jr. 1919
