Eldest family member says William Timothy Ryan married Mary Fitzgerald (both of Fethard, Tipperary, Ireland)and moved to NYC, where he was a baker. Family story is that he was told of a Queen's warrant against him and so he departed quickly from Fethard via back roads to Queenstown, where he was put on a "potato boat" to New York with the help of rebels. His wife Mary (nee Fitzgerald) reportedly followed about six months later. Each member of this couple was born about 1870. They had a daughter named Margaret Mary Ryan who was born in NYC on 19 Oct 1890. She married Joseph Alphonsus Noe (B 12 July 1883 in New York).
