I would love to have a zerox copy of the Bible record along with the front page of the Bible which we could use as proof.A notarized transcript of a Bible record, by the original writer, "might" be accepted.Or a transcript from a noted source book. The copy of the bible record I have, helped me to sort out Woodson Fitts' wives and children, but did not tell me anything about his parents.I tentatively have his listed as a son of Susannah Pass and Robert Walker Fitts, due to birth date and other clues.
Again, I think all these Fitts are related. The FITTS AND ALLIED FAMILIES published in GA in the 1990s detail Tandy Fitts and Mary, and their descendents. This is a compilation by several Fitts researchers in the north GA area where Tandy and Mary Fitts moved before 1800. He sold land in 1793 Halifax CO., VA to Joseph Glen. These researchers all say that Tandy died 1803 in Elbert Co., GA. According to records, My Mary Fitts, widow of Tandy, was living in GA with her children after 1800, not in Halifax Co., VA.I also have those records and look very hard at them....trying to make them fit.But they just wouldn't!
The names "Tandy" and "Sandy" run through all these GA, TN and NC Fitts lines.I believe that Robert Walker Fitts and (John-tentative)Tandy Fitts are brothers. They do name children seemingly for each other.I also think other siblings include: Henry (b.July 1734,married Susannah Sturdivant),Oliver,Sanford, and Patty (married John Smallman).I believe them to be the children of Henry Fitts, born 1695 Dinwiddie Co., VA.Based on my forty years of research on the Fitts line.A lot of hard proofs, a lot of clues....If only my thoughts could make it all true.
Children of Henry and Susannah Sturdivant Fitts ended up in Tuscaloosa, AL where my Marion Fitts lived in 1890.My dad said his grandfather would go and discuss with James Harris Fitts how they were related.James Harris Fitts wrote a book on his Fitts family, but did not include cousins, etc.
My Walker Fitts(father of Marion) was also in the War of 1812.He is listed on the records of land grants in the 1827 drawing as living in Butts Co., GAand drawing land in Lee Co., GA. In 1829 he moved to Monroe Co.,GA and cleared a farm out of the woods. He moved on to near Concord, Pike CO. in 1833. Then to Fayette Co., GA where he is on the 1850 census with 9 of his 10 children. He died in Atlanta in 1854.
Please email me at [email protected] for my address.I will be happy to share the proofs I have, also my thought and suppositions. It would be so good to be able to prove the line.
Annette
