There is a problem with any of the Southern linage. That is none of them can trace thier line back to Robert of VA.This is because the records were destroyed during Colonial times and again during the Civil War.Most trace thier lines back to either John Walker Fitts or Henry Fitts. We are not able to tie our lines to any of the following Robert Fitz (Fitts) of Jamestown, Thomas Fitts in Surry County, Cary Fitts, Carrey Fitts or Carey Fitts. The last three listed could and more than likely are the same person.Until people feel easy about DNA, it may be hard to get the responce needed.Even if we all tested positive with the "Y" factor that still doesn't mean the connection is with Robert it may mean that some where in England we had a common Mother in the Family.Only if we could check the Robert in question by removing a DNA sample from his teeth could we answer any questions?Until we fine some records that ties the two together there will still be questions. The answer may be in records somewhere in Massachusetts that states Robert came from VA.???????The Fitts Family records of MA are pretty complete and more information is turning up each year.
