Does anyone know the parents of Mary Elizabeth Fite b Apr 1837 NC, d 19 May 1911 in Crowell, Foard Co, TX who marries John Marion Crowell b 1833 in GA, d 1912 in MS?
Here is a story that was told by John Marion Crowell to one of his sons: "I was married to Mary Elizabeth Fite prior to the Civil War. We lived in Calhoun, GA. We had 2 sons, George Thomas Crowell and John Marion Crowell. I came home one day and foundmy wife with another man. I left her and took my second son, John Marion Crowell, with me leaving him near Selma, AL. I later married Luticia Moten and we had 5 children. I later moved from AL to MS- we were living in the vicinity of Pickens and Aliceville, AL before moving to MS."
I thought she might be one of Peter Fite III's children but I believe that they are all accounted for at this time.
Could she be a VOGT rather than a VEIT?
BTW, the oldest son, Geroge Thomas Crowell married Nancy Adelia Fite, daughter of Isaac Marion Fite and Mary Ann McClure.
