I also posted a query on the Newton Co, MO USGenWeb query page and received the following information:
"Lawson Corneilius Caplinger, b 10 Nov 1856, d 12 June 1938, married 12 Sept 1880 in Newton Co, MO to Martha R Fite, b 25 Feb 1856, d 21 Aug 1913. Neil is buried in CA. Dicey is buried in MO, possibly Spring Valley Cemetery, but most of her children were married or gone, so she may be buried near Duenweg or Diamond."
I also received a message regarding the 1880 Newton Co, MO census:
"I can't tell you if this was a transcription error, or census taker error, but from the book -
1880 Newton Co. MO Census, pg. 47-48 it reads
Marion Township household # 199-209
Dority, John W M 63 yrs. farmer b KY Ireland Prussia
Dority, Mary W F 63 wife b NC NC NC
Fike, Dicy W F 23, living with, housekeeping b TN TN TN
Caplinger, Neal W M 22 hired hand, working on farm b OH OH OH
(The three states such as KY TN TN represent where that person was born, &
where father then mother were born.)
The other Fike names (No exact spelling to yours) are
Ada B, Anna H, George, Laura, Lena, Robert and Samuel L.
This was the closest I could come but based on the Dicy & Neal being in the same HH, I'm pretty sure this is correct."
Does any one have information on the chldren of Lawson Corneilius Caplinger and Martha R "Dicey" Fite?
