Hello, I have been researching our family history for several years and have never been able to piece together my grandfather's sister's marriage. Katherine was born in 1865 in Illinois. The family moved to Iowa and lived there until my g. grandfather died in 1874. The mother farmed the three children out and she went to Chicago to work. She eventually gathered all three children up and they lived in Chicago with her. In the 1900 census Katherine's surname is Kindred and then in the 1910 census her surname is Fitch. She and my mother corresponded some so I know this is correct via that route also. She married to Harry Fitch sometime after the 1900 census and he passed away before the 1910 census. Katherine was a housekeeper for a cousin of President McKinleys in Chicago and may have met Mr. Fitch through this family. Mother thought he was quite a few years older than Katherine. Later Katherine and her mother, Ina Marie "Mary" Kindred moved to Champaign, Illinois where she lived until her death. While living there Katherine adopted one of her neighbor's daughters, Grace Roberts. Grace married Stanley Baron. Katherine and her mother are both buried at Champaign. Hopefully someone in the Fitch family can help me put the pieces together??
