The article I saw was fairly recent. Not sure the date of the article. It appeared in NEHGR, NYGBR OR TAG. Pierce like many of the compiliers of his era, felt he needed to give his subscribers something for their money. His was the Symond line. Have not heard of the Geoffrey line. If I came from LDS or IGI, likely it can't be verified. Have seen too many mistrakes in those sources to use the info as gospel. Pierce evidently did not check info given him by the various Fisk/Fiske descendants.
He had Benjamin Fiske as son of Dr. John and wife Hannah of Milford, CT (and flew in the face of family tradition) by ignoring the fact the Benjamin was a brother of Samuel (son of Joseph and Elizabeth (Bartram) Hammond Fiske. Ben's grandson Benjamin married his 2nd cousin 1R Hannah Hammond -gt-grdau. of Elizabeth B H F by her 1st husband William Hammond. Hannah died within a year of their marriage, but that fact was not noted by Pierce.
Found the Fiske cemetery in the mid-1990's (in Danby, VT). And had wondered where Valleriah Colvin came from (she was the widow of Benjamin Fiske). She is buried in the samll cem. with her family members. Kept checking the Fiske book to see which Benjamin she married. No luck. Then in June 2000 when swapping Colvin lines with a cousin realized what have happened. Will check my notebooks to see if I still have the source where I found the correction.
