I am reseraching (just started) my wifes family tree. One side of her family were the Fishwicks of Tavistock in Devon. George the father was a police constable who died early aged 51 in 1912. His wife was Emily Harriet (maiden name unknown). I am not totally sure how many children they had but Liliann (my wifes grandmother on her fathers side) worked as a nurse in Devon County Asylum in 1910. The family address then was 2 Guildhall Cottages. Tavistock. Lillian married into the Courtney family and my wifes father, Desmond Thomas Courtney, was her only child.
One of the few surviving members of the Fishwicks is my wifes second cousin Jean (now 74) who's mother was named Daisy and it due to recent contact with her (Jean)that I have decided to look into her family.
I believe that Jean was cousin to Desmond Courtney which would have made her mother Daisy and Lillian sisters.
I also know that for some years Jean lived in Russell Square, London and came to live in Paignton just after the war. I know that they also lived at Totnes for four years prior to moving to Paignton.
The above is a brief resume of what I have so far managed to glean and hope that you will find it useful; any info. that you can throw my way would be appreciated.
