Ceremonial Sword found; presented to a W.T.Fisher.
Hello, I have just come across a ceremonial sword that has an engraving on it that says "Presented to Capt W.T.Fisher by the N.C.O's & MEN of B.COMPANY 1st BATTALION ESSEX VOL REGT. April 5th 1917"
Lemme know if you have any interest in such a sword. It has a nice heft to it, and a nice leather scabbard. There is a jewel seated in the end of the pommel that seems cheap, like glass, but perhaps N.C.O's of that era could not afford any better.
I thought I would offer it to the Fishers before putting it on the open market.I have been unable to find any record of a Capt W.T.Fisher but I have confirmed the 1st Battalion as being a British outfit in Essex. The date would place this sword in World War I.
I can be contacted at [email protected]
Thanks
