I do believe that Anna Buker married Erastus Fisher. Unfortunately, all I have ever been able to find on them is this marriage record.
"The Marriage Registers of Upper Canada/Canada West" Volume 8 Part 1 Johnston District 1799-1851 p.42 Marriages by Revd. Joseph H. Leonard, Methodist Episcopalean
Erastus Fisher to Anna Baker both of Augusta. At Augusta 6 Sept 1838. Rev H. Leonard. Wit. Anson Burritt and Joshua McLean
It is indexed under Anna Baker, but having looked at the original record, I believe it is Buker. I think Anna Buker is probably the daughter of Melvin Buker and Mary French, but have not found any proof.

If Mary Ann Fisher was married to Reuben Tanny abt 1845/47, this would more likely be a brother. He is not old enough to be her father. I have the following census information for Erastus Fisher.
CENSUS: 1840 Census Augusta Township, Grenville Canada. Erastus Fisher 1 man, 1 woman, 1 female child

CENSUS: 1860 United States Census. Census Place: Ogdensburg, St. Lawrence, New York. Ogdensburg 2nd Ward page 299

Erastus Fisher /single/ son/ male/ age 20 Born: New York/ Occupation: sawyer/ Father and Mother born: Canada
Hariet E. Fisher /single/ daughter/ female/ age 14/ Born: New York/ at home/ Father and Mother born: Canada
Mary S. Fisher /single / daughter/ female/ age 11/ Born: New York/ at home/ Father and mother born: Canada
Charles E. Fisher / single /son/ male/ age 11/ Born: New York/ at home/ Father and Mother born: Canada

Cannot prove that the one in Canada and the one in New York are the same person. If they are the same person, Anna Buker must have died not long after they were married.

In looking at this Fisher information again, I see some definite problems.
The Erastus Fisher in the 1860 New York Census was born abt 1826 according to the census. His first child was born abt 1853.
This would indicate he is not the Erastus Fisher in the 1840 Census in Augusta.

The Erastus Fisher married to Anna Buker 1838 would have been born abt 1818 or earlier. He may be the Erastus Fisher in the 1840 Census in Augusta, having been married about two years.

From Census information: Mary Ann Fisher was born abt 1825, My Eliza Fisher, I have not found anywhere except the marriage. Her husband Job was born in 1826. This means that Mary Ann, Eliza, and The Erastus Fisher b. abt 1826 were all born before Erastus Fisher and Anna Buker were married.

It is difficult to see how or if these Erastus Fisher's were related.

I have read your posts re: Erastus & Mary Ann.
One source not mentioned is the NYS census. If Erastus is in the 1860 & 1870 census, he should be in the 1865 St Lawrence NYS census. (1855 & 1875 are lost) There are films & of importance here in this one is the question of if a person has had a previous marriage.
One other thing- the gravestone of the Ogdensburg person is inscribed as C. Rastus Fisher. As Erastus & Ellen had a son named Charles, there is the possibility that he was given the name of Charles Erastus at birth, and for whatever reason later assumed his identity from his middle name.

The 1851 census for Augusta lists Erastus Fisher and his wife Ellen. He's either 32 or 22, born in Canada. Ellen is 19, born in England.
Erastus is my ggggrandfather. Ellens last name is Saunders or Sanders. I'm sorry I don't know who your Mary Ann is but I'll keep her in mind when I'm looking for Erastus.

Molly, thanks for the info. I found your Erastus Fisher in the 1880 New York State census. He was living in Ogdensburg.
Listed are:
Erastus 59 born in canada father and mother born in Scotland
Ellen wife 42 born in England parents in England
Erastus son 20 born in Canada
Harriet E. daughter 14 born in Canada
Mary S. daughter 11 born in canada
Charles E. son 11 born in Canada

I can't find anything beyond this. Have you?

I believe he had a sister born in 1824/26 named Mary Anne.
Mary Anne married Reuben Tanney In Ogdensburg 9-25-1845.
She named her 1st sun Reuben after her husband's side of the family. Her 2nd son was named Erastus Fisher Tanney. which I believe is after her side of the family. This old time tradition. I was told by my grandfather that she/her family came from Scotland.
I hope this helps please let me know if you find anything. I believe your ggggrand father is my gguncle.

Thanks Fred
