James J. Fisher. or J. James Fisher AKA Jesse James, (used James or J. J. on legal forms) born 25 Dec. 1884 in Canada; died 16 Nov 1927 Pensacola, Escambia County, Florida. Married Barbara Josephine Malone (he used name James Fisher on marriage record) 31 Jan 1877 in Baldwin County Alabama. Several U.S. Censuses state James was born in Canada and both parents born in Canada. One census states born in French Canada. He came to the Escambia, Fl/Baldwin, Al area to work in the logging industry. *Family lore states that he and several brothers (names unknown) were in the bicycle, buggy repair business, in French Canada and they were of French extraction. The English, trying to rid the area of the French, deported them via boat to New Orleans, La.; from there he worked his way to this area by working in the logging industry. He became the foreman of a sawmill in Florida. It is unknown what became of the brothers. The children of this union were, James A. 1879; William H. 1880-1905, known to be the favorite son, asked to be buried next to him upon his death; Charlotte Fisher 1883; Catherine, 1886; Daniel, 1889; Mary 1891. The James Fisher s/o George, on the 1851 Quebec census is not the one. I think maybe one brother may have followed him here, his name is William Fisher (b,1851) with children of same names lived closely to him, but no family member can confirm. Many thanks for any and all efforts. Notify Administrator about this message?
