Please note that James Washington Fisher, SR. (the Rev. War Soldier) (Feb. 3, 1753 to March 4, 1832) was my gggg-grandfather. He did have a son named James, but James (Jr.) was born January 10, 1795 and died November 6, 1862. James Sr. and James Jr. moved to what is now Transylvania Co., NC from Greenville SC by about 1841. Many people have attempted to attach the James Fisher (died 1869) from Jackson Co., NC to James Sr. THIS IS NOT CORRECT! My James Sr. and James Jr. are buried just one row apart on original Fisher land in Transylvania Co. (which was part of Jackson Co. prior to 1870). But my James Jr. married Darcus Levisa Bowling and she was his only wife. All their children lived near each other (except two that moved away and we know where they went). We can prove through census and land records that our Jameses are connected and are the correct lineage. The Jackson Co. Fishers have even published a picture of James Jr. and his wife, Darcus, and claimed that is THEIR James. I am a serious researcher and am careful to document my sources including birth and death certificates, land records, pension applicatioins, etc.
