I am curious to know what information you have gleaned on John D. Fisher since your last Forum posting in November 2001. John was my great grandfather. His son and my grandfather, Charles, moved from River Falls to Eau Claire WI where he died of TB in about 1903. Yes, John served in the 25th OVI where he was wounded in both arms. His father, Joseph, also served in the Civil War in the 55th OVI although he was age 42 when he enlisted and had minor children at home. John was a sergeant in the same company (G) as his son William (John's brother), a private. William was killed at Missionary Ridge and is buried at the National Cemetery in Chattanooga TN. Jacob, who appears to have been William's twin, served in the 9th Ohio Cav. Addie Tozer Fisher, John's wife, has a lineage back to her grandfather Samuel, a veteran of the War of 1812, and her great grandfather Julius Tozer, a Revolutionary War and War of 1812 veteran. I am in the process of getting military files for all of these persons which I would be happy to share with you when they arrive (I understand this takes up to three months).
I would like to know what you have on John. Perhaps we can swap data.
