Jerry;I am sending a second follow up to your message.I have these questions.Do you have any info on Absalom fighting in the Civil War?He would have been around 60 at the outset.Did any of his sons serve in Ohio regiments during the Civil War?The reason I ask is that our family legend has my relative John David'sfather and brother(s) going off to war and John David being left behind because he was too young.Legend has him running away and joining up.We are fairly certain John David Fisher served in the Ohio 25th Volunteer Infantry.Somehow John David ended up in Wisconsin after the war and married a Mary Addie Tozer.
AS I read your account again with David listed as 5 in the 1850 census the age is correct with our John David. He would also have been about 18 in 1863 while an older brother would have been 25.If there is alink some of the legend would die as it would seem 18 would be old enough for him to be able to decide on his own about service in the war.
