Hi Mary, Others may step in here to correct me but basically there are a bunch of folks working on this line who are also without real concrete info.. Several people from this line have participated in the Fish Surname DNA Project, but other than establishing that they are from a unique lineage from colonial NC there has not been any progress in establishing exactly who belongs where. One of the biggest problems is that there seems to be several lines in the same areas using the names of John and William, so it has been difficult to sort them out accurately. There is reasonable thought that this line is related to the William Fish d 1751 Edgecombe Co but this is still under research.

BTW: Lincoln Co NC did not exist in 1744.

One thing we know to be true: this line is not related to the Fish lineage of colonial Massachusetts....despite many stories, the DNA has proven this not to be accurate.

I'm sure everyone would love to know any new info that you have uncovered! Please share!
