FISH DNA Project latest

Greetings to my fellow Fish researchers! Thought I'd let you know what is happening with our project. First, FamilytreeDNA (who sponsors our project) has given us some discount certificates for use before the end of Dec 2007. They are not a lot but are better than nothing: $15 off the 25 marker YDNA test and $30 off the 37 marker YDNA test. Also $15 off mtDNA tests. (For our UK friends, just divide these numbers by 2 for approx. amount in pounds) I only have been allotted 2 of each, so let me know if you are interested in using one. Must be used for new orders only. (My address is birls "at" boone.net)

So far, we have 19 Fish participants and have identified 9 genetically distinct lines, and are awaiting the results of another. Most interesting is a group tracing their descent from early NC Fish, who are working together to co-ordinate everyone's research and DNA info to try to sort out the relationships & migration patterns of these early ancestors. This lineage seems to have spread rapidly across the USA and so far comprises almost 1/2 of all of the Fish tested in our project! It would be wonderful if some non-USA Fish could participate so perhaps we could determine where all of these Fish came from! If anyone wishes to see the results of our project so far, go to http://www.familytreedna.com/public/fish/ and scroll down to the chart.
Happy Holidays!
Jamie
