Moses Leanard Smith was born in Canada in the year of 1837, and departed this life at his home in Tomah, Monroe County,WI. on March 12, 1917. (Source is "The Tomah Monitor Herald" dated 3-16-17)
When 21 he came to this country and settled on afarm five miles north of Sparta. On December 14 ,1870 he married Emma D. Fish and together the residedon the farm located on Bush Praire, until they removed to Wabasha MN. engaging in hotel keeping. A few years late came to Tomah,WI County of Monroe; which place has been their home.
When gold was discovered in CA he joined the rush for the western coutnry in search of gold. Survivors are his widow and 2 brothers L. A. Smith of Sparta,WI and N.H. Smith of Eagan, SD. funeral services conducted by rev. L.E. Hoisington form the residence and interment in Oak Grove Cemtery, Tomah,WI. (Informational Only--Not related)
