Peter Fish and son, James, England to Ohio

FIRST GENERATION

1. Peter Fish was born before 1790 in London, England. Family tradition has it that he was a musician and played the violin for the Engish Royalty according to Norman Fish. He died about 1837 in transit to America. He was buried in the Atlantic Ocean.

Peter Fish had the following children:

+2 i. James Fish (born about 1804).


SECOND GENERATION

2. James Fish was born about 1804 in England. He emigrated about 1837 from England. His naturalization papers say that he came to America in May 1847. This cannot be correct beacuse his son James was born in Columbiana Co., Ohio on Nov. 6, 1838. He was living in 1850 in Watertown Twp., Washington Co., Ohio. He was naturalized on July 1, 1868 in Washington County, Ohio. He signed a will on March 28, 1869 in Washington County Probate Court, Marietta, Ohio. He died before April 22, 1873 in Washington Co., Ohio. He , according to federal census records, was a farmer in 1860 and 1870 in Warren Twp., Washington Co., Ohio.

Alice ________ was born about 1812 in England. James Fish and Alice _______ had the following children:

3 i. Catherine Fish was born about 1836 in England. She is not listed with the family in the 1860 census. She seems to disappear from all records until she is mentioned in her mother's will as Catherine Fish. Apparently she never married.
4 ii. Timothy Fish was born on January 9, 1837 in Lancastershire, England. He was enlisted in 2nd Ohio Heavy Artillery in December 1863. "Has had no serious disability at last account except deafness from artillery practice." He died about 1864. Listed as missing and supposed to be .
+5 iii. James Fish (born on November 6, 1838).
6 iv. Ann Fish was born about 1841 in Ohio. She is not listed with the family in the 1860 census. I found an Annie J. Fish who married Andrew J. Dodds of Athens county on Dec. 23, 1884, but cannot establish if it is her or not. She is listed as Ann Vaughn in her mothers will.
7 v. William Fish was born on February 19, 1842 in Washington Co., Ohio. He was enlisted in Company L, 1st Ohio Cavalry in December 1863. "In no battles. Was taken sick with measles shortly after enlistment and died..." He died in January 1864 in Nashville, Tennessee. He was buried in January 1864 in Nashville, Tennessee.
8 vi. Nancy Fish was born about 1846 in Ohio. She is listed as Nancy Holmes in her mother's will. She died in 1909 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
+9 vii. John Fish (born about 1848).
+10 viii. Roger Fish Sr. (born on December 11, 1848).
+11 ix. Isabelle "Belle" Fish (born about 1854).
+12 x. Andrew Fish (born on May 2, 1856).



THIRD GENERATION

5. James Fish was born on November 6, 1838 in Columbiana Co., Ohio. He was living in 1860 in Watertown Twp., Washington Co., Ohio. Listed as a day laborer in the household of Alexander W. Beebe. He was enlisted in Company L, 1st Ohio Cavalry in December 1863. "Was taken sick in Tennessee, in March 1864, with Small Pox, and lay in a hospital for several months. Rejoined his regiment on recovery" He was discharged on September 28, 1865.

He was married to Ruth Beebe on June 25, 1868 in Washington Co., Ohio. They were married by Rev. A. B. Price, DD. James Fish and Ruth Beebe had the following children:

13 i. George L. Fish was born on March 13, 1869 in Union Twp., Washington Co., Ohio.
14 ii. James A. Fish was born on August 11, 1873 in Union Twp., Washington Co., Ohio.

9. John Fish was born about 1848 in Ohio.

He was married to Isabelle M. Angle on December 16, 1871 in Washington Co., Ohio. John Fish and Isabelle M. Angle had the following children:

+15 i. Perlie Fish (born on March 20, 1881).
16 ii. Mina Fish was born on February 22, 1884 in Warren Twp., Washington Co., Ohio.

10. Roger Fish Sr. was born on December 11, 1848 in Ohio. Some records spell his name Rodger. He , according to federal census records, was a farm laborer in 1880 in Warren Twp., Washington Co., Ohio. He died on August 31, 1917 in probably Warren Twp., Washington Co., Ohio. His obituary appeared in the Sunday Morning Observer of Sept. 2, 1917 and read, " Rodger Fish - 69, well known resident residing west of the city, died at his home, Friday morning, Aug. 31. was due to leakage of the heart with which he had been suffering for several months. He is survived by five daughters and two sons as follows: Mrs. John Miller of Newport; Mrs. MAck Wynn, of Bartlettsville, Okla., Mrs. Ollie Higgins, of East Liverpool; Mrs. Dayton Johnson and Mrs. Glen Porter, of Mile Run, ans messrs. William and Harry Fish, of Logan. One brother and one sister also survive: Mrs. Belle Harris, of this city, and John Fish, of Waterford. Funeral services will be held this afternoon at one o'clock. Burial will be made in the Brabham cemetery." He was buried on September 2, 1917 in Brabham Cemetery, Warren Twp., Washington Co., Ohio.

He was married to Effie Thomas (daughter of John Thomas and Louisa Jane Sprague) on November 18, 1871 in Washington County, Ohio. Effie Thomas was born on October 30, 1855. She died on May 31, 1882. She was buried in Brabham Cemetery, Warren Twp., Washington Co., Ohio. Roger Fish Sr. and Effie Thomas had the following children:

17 i. Charlotte "Lottie" Fish was born on May 6, 1872 in Warren Twp., Washington Co., Ohio.
18 ii. Alice Fish was born about 1875 in Ohio.
19 iii. Olive "Ollie" Fish was born on December 19, 1876 in Warren Twp., Washington Co., Ohio.
20 iv. Perry Fish was born on June 17, 1879 in Warren Twp., Washington Co., Ohio. He died on May 13, 1953.
+21 v. William Fish (born on May 22, 1882).

He was married to Amanda Viola Thomas (daughter of John Thomas and Louisa Jane Sprague) on December 7, 1883 in Washington County, Ohio. Amanda was Roger's first wife's younger sister. Amanda Viola Thomas was born on December 21, 1868 in Warren Twp., Washington Co., Ohio. She died on February 19, 1910. She was buried in Brabham Cemetery, Warren Twp., Washington Co., Ohio. Roger Fish Sr. and Amanda Viola Thomas had the following children:

+22 i. Cora Fish (born on May 28, 1885).
23 ii. Roger Fish Jr..
+24 iii. Effie Elvira Fish (born on December 26, 1887).
+25 iv. Elsie Fish (born on September 15, 1892).s

11. Isabelle "Belle" Fish was born about 1854 in Ohio.

She was married to Joseph Harris. Isabelle "Belle" Fish and Joseph Harris had the following children:

26 i. Hubbard Harris was born on January 26, 1874 in Warren Twp., Washington Co., Ohio.
27 ii. Hattie Ceoli Harris was born on February 21, 1876 in Warren Twp., Washington Co., Ohio.

12. Andrew Fish was born on May 2, 1856 in Ohio. He died on October 18, 1907.

He was married to Elizabeth "Lizzie" Parsons on July 24, 1880 in Washington Co., Ohio. Andrew Fish and Elizabeth "Lizzie" Parsons had the following children:

+28 i. Quina Fish (born on May 22, 1883).
