All right, I am a great-granddaughter of Ada, one of Elbert William Fish's children. This is the information I have, compiled for Ada's three daughters professionally by Merton E. Krug, Secretary for the Silas Fish Family Association, and is current to 1951. If you would like a copy, I would be happy to send you one. This is the basic direct information, the chart has details and all the branches. Here goes:

Elbert William was born in Wisconsin on May 6, 1848, and he died May 13, 1895. He married Ellen McCray on Oct. 15, 1867. Ellen lived Nov. 21, 1847 - Jan. 16, 1907.

Elbert's father's side:
1. Elbert's father was Silas Fish II, "The Winfield Pioneer". B.April 19, 1806 in Renselaerville, Albany County, NY and he died February 14, 1888.

2. His parents were Amey Spencer, who d.1818 Silas Fish I, b. Sept. 24, 1751 in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. They were m. March 3, 1795. I don't have very much info on Amey or the other wives on Elbert's paternal side except the names of their parents. Amey was the daughter of William and Margaret (Johnson) Spencer. William was the son of Walter and Ann (Wilson) Spencer. Walter's father was Edmund Spencer, the colonist.

3. Silas I's mother was Priscilla Arthur, a cousin of Benjamin Franklin. His father was Benjamin Fish, b. April 14, 1716 in Portsmouth, RI. Priscilla's parents were John and Mary (Folger) Arthur. Mary's father, Eleazer Folger, was a brother of Abiah Folger Franklin,Benjamin Franklin's mother. Eleazer was the son of Peter and Mary (Morrell)Folger of Nantucket, Mass.

4. Benjamin's mother was Ruth Cook, who d. 1775 at the age of 93. Ruth was the daughter of John and Ruth (Shaw) Cook of Tiverton. His father was Preserved Fish(awful name), famous patriach of Tiverton, Rhode Island. B. August 12,1679, and d. 1745.

5. Preserved's mother was Grizzel Strange and his father was Thomas Fish II, b. about 1649 in Portsmouth, RI and d. about 1686 in Portsmouth. Grizzel was the daughter of John and Alice Strange.

6. Thomas II's mother was Mary Soule. His father was Thomas Fish I (i.e., 1st of the American line). He was b. Jan. 1, 1618/1619 in Great Bowden, England. He came to New England w/brother, John, in 1643, and settled in Portsmouth, RI in 1645.

7. Thomas I's father was Robert Fish, son of Thomas Fish, a cousin of Robert's wife's father. Robert was married to his 2nd cousin, Alice Fyshe, bapt. Nov. 6, 1597 in England. They married about 1617/1618.

8. Alice's father was John Fyshe, b. about 1555. He was of Market Harborow, Great Bowden, Leicestershire, England. Her mother was Margaret Craddock.

9. John's father was Augustine Fysshe, who lived in Great Bowden, Leicestershire, England. He died 1579/1580.

Now, for Elbert's mother's side:
1. Elbert's mother was Betsy Raymond. She m. his father on Nov. 20, 1824. I have a large amount of detail on Betsy and Silas's marriage. I won't type it all here. Betsy was born May 13, 1807 at Athens, Greene County, NY, a small Dutch shipping village. She was a Quaker.

2. Betsy's mother was Temperance Nichols, daughter of Daniel and Mary (Allen) Nichols. She was b. Feb. 23, 1762 and was baptized as a Quaker the next day in Fairfield County, Connecticut. Betsy's father was Lemuel Raymond III, a soldier in the Revolutionary War. He was b. Sept. 18, 1762 in Fairfield County, CT, probably in New Canaan. There are many details of his service record. He d. August 8, 1849 in NY and Temperance died April 23, 1849 in NY. They are buried in Mount Hope Cemetery, Athens, NY. They were married Jan. 7, 1785.

3. Lemuel III's father was Lemuel II, b. 1740 at New Canaan, CT. He died around 1770. He was married to Lydia Beebe (or Lewis). Lewis is believed to be her maiden name, and Beebe is thought to be her married name after Lemuel died. There is a bit of controversy.

4. Lemuel II's father was Lemuel I, b. about 1708. His mother was Sarah Guire, daughter of Luke and Mary (Adams) Guire. I am currently working on tracing the Guire family, and there is a TON of info.

5. Lemuel I's father was John II, b. 1665. He married Elizabeth St. John, daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth (Hoyt) St.John. I am also tracing back the St. John family, which has a lot of info. also.

6. John II's father was John I, b. about 1640 and his mother was Mary Betts, daughter of Thomas Betts, an English colonist of Norwalk, CT.

7. John I's father was Captain Richard Raymond, a New England planter of some fame. He came to America from London as a member of Capt. John Mason's company in 1630. His wife's name was Judith.
