Hello Peter,
Could you tell me if you have any info. in your Fish family tree on these people:
Elbert William Fish, born May 6, 1848, died May 13, 1895. Married to Ellen McCray, who was born Nov. 21, 1847, and died Jan. 16, 1907.
1. Elbert's father was Silas Fish II, "The Winfield Pioneer". B.April 19, 1806 in Renselaerville, Albany County, NY and he died February 14, 1888.
2. His parents were Amey Spencer, who d.1818 Silas Fish I, b. Sept. 24, 1751 in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. They were m. March 3, 1795. Amey was the daughter of William and Margaret (Johnson) Spencer. William was the son of Walter and Ann (Wilson) Spencer. Walter's father was Edmund Spencer, the colonist.
3. Silas I's mother was Priscilla Arthur, a cousin of Benjamin Franklin. His father was Benjamin Fish, b. April 14, 1716 in Portsmouth, RI. Priscilla's parents were John and Mary (Folger) Arthur. Mary's father, Eleazer Folger, was a brother of Abiah Folger Franklin,Benjamin Franklin's mother. Eleazer was the son of Peter and Mary (Morrell)Folger of Nantucket, Mass.
4. Benjamin's mother was Ruth Cook, who d. 1775 at the age of 93. Ruth was the daughter of John and Ruth (Shaw) Cook of Tiverton. His father was Preserved Fish, famous patriach of Tiverton, Rhode Island. B. August 12,1679, and d. 1745.
5. Preserved's mother was Grizzel Strange and his father was Thomas Fish II, b. about 1649 in Portsmouth, RI and d. about 1686 in Portsmouth. Grizzel was the daughter of John and Alice Strange.
6. Thomas II's mother was Mary Soule. His father was Thomas Fish I (i.e., 1st of the American line). He was b. Jan. 1, 1618/1619 in Great Bowden, England. He came to New England w/brother, John, in 1643, and settled in Portsmouth, RI in 1645.
7. Thomas I's father was Robert Fish, son of Thomas Fish, a cousin of Robert's wife's father. Robert was married to his 2nd cousin, Alice Fyshe, bapt. Nov. 6, 1597 in England. They married about 1617/1618.
8. Alice's father was John Fyshe, b. about 1555. He was of Market Harborow, Great Bowden, Leicestershire, England. Her mother was Margaret Craddock.
9. John's father was Augustine Fysshe, who lived in Great Bowden, Leicestershire, England. He died 1579/1580.
