Gerhart & Johann Frederick

Actually, Pam, I am not from the Gerhardt Fiscus line.I am descended, like you, from Frederick.I come from 2 of his children: Anna Cunnigunda who married Michael Hauser (in Maryland, yes), and Jacob Frederick.Their descendants Henry Hauser and Katherine Fiscus married in Owen Co, Indiana and produced my family. He later moved to Iowa with his 2nd wife after she had passed away.
There is a reason I knew about the Illinois Fiscus families.I am doing a Fiscus One-Name Project and have a considerable amount of information collected.I want to make it clear that as yet I have no information on Fiscus families in Europe at this time.As for American Fiscus families, I am not yet ready to post anything online.I am working very diligently on the project, trying to get everyone added, sorted and organized - then referencing with direct sources as much as possible rather than using other people's research. I am reluctant to post the project until I have more of it filled out, cross-referenced, and my mistakes (of which I'm sure there are quite a few) corrected. In the meantime I do try to help others online who make queries that I am able to help answer. This is why I chose to respond to you.
I agree with you and suspect that Frederick and Gerhardt both kept in contact for a great many years before they went their separate ways.I'm trying to dig into the remote period between 1743-1770's to find out more.I have found that quite a few others have information about land titles and baptismal records in Gerhardt's line, none of which I have included in my files as I have yet to confirm their information.
You should check out the book "Alsatian-American Family Hauser" by Kenneth John Huaser, Jr (1977).It has some information about the Hauser's early years, including in Pennsylvania and Maryland. The two eldest Hauser brothers, Georg and Michael, were the first to go to North Carolina, in 1751, to see about getting good land there. They found the land was good and made their claims, then went back to Maryland late the following year to bring their family. Before they went back to North Carolina, the two young men married.Micheal is said to have married "his old sweetheart, Anna Fiscus".This is suggestive that they knew each other for a long time. The Fiscus and Hauser families likely knew each other in Pennsylvania as well as in Maryland. The second Fiscus-Hauser marriage in that family was done after the move into North Carolina.
If you have any other questions, or simply want to know more, feel free to email me direct.I will be more than happy to correspond.
