Good Afternoon,
This is information regarding the family of Firth
My name is Linda Buchanan-Weagle, the youngest daughter of John Dix Buchanan, born Truro 12/05/1915 and G. Joyce Firth-Buchanan, born Lockeport 01/03/1917.
Additional children in the Firth-Buchanan family are: eldest:

Gertrude Joyce Firth-Buchanan,(Joyce) is the eldest daughter of Hiram and Winnifred Firth, residing in Lockeport, NS. Peggy Eileen Firth-Mattatall (Peggy) is the second eldest daughter, born 10/05/1927, residing in Shelburne, NS. Eugene Glenwood Firth (Glen) born 08/05/1919 - 1960.
Peggy Eileen Firth-Mattatall married to Kenneth Mattatall had 2 sons: Kenneth residing in Ottawa & Michael in Shelburne, NS

Hiram Glenwood Firth was the youngest son of Christopher Jones Firth (picture to follow) and Mary Liste-Firth. Siblings in the Christopher Jones Firth family starting with the eldest are: Capt. J.E. Firth (Jones Evert), George, Frank, Mitchell, Willard, Elvira Maude, Lorinda Anne, Cora, Hiram Glenwood.

Chilren of Christopher Jones Firth;

Capt. J.E. Firth and Minnie Harlow had one daughter: Amy. Story to follow regarding Capt. J.E. Firth
George Firth and Nan had 3 children: Murdo, Molly, Jean (living in Thunder Bay)
Frank Firth and Jennie Benham had 2 children: Lewis, George

Hiram Glenwood Firth( picture to follow) and Winnifred Minerva Parks had 3 children: Gertrude Joyce, Glenwood, Peggy Eileen

James Firth and Elizabeth Morrison, who were native to county Sligo in Ireland, immigrated to the county of Shelburne, Nova Scotia. There is an old will that is presently in the possession of Gertrude Joyce Firth Buchanan and it is stated that they resided in Ragged Island (the original name for Lockeport) at the time of James death.
The 4 children that travelled from Ireland with their parents are: eldest daughter Hannah Firth (spinster), Elizabeth Williams, Robert Firth, Mary Anne (married in Liverpool, NS). Robert and Mary Anne are not mentioned in the will, yet church records show that Mary Anne was born at "Sandtouit". This may be a town in the County Sligo, Ireland. Evidently she was born before they immigrated from Ireland and Jones Firth was born at Ragged Island and he was named after the vessel that brought them to Nova Scotia. They did not travel on the original Mayflower yet the name of the ship will be available. Hiram Firth always told his daughter Joyce that the original Mayflower came over to early for James and his family to travel on.
In Liverpool, NS, there is information on the Firth family. There is contradictory information on file in Halifax, NS.

Mom and I have had a pleasure reading the information and questions regarding the Firth family. Mom has many, many stories about each and every one of these persons. Right now she is a wealth of information and please feel free to ask questions. Please email either on here or to shows2001@hotmail.com. Mom, Peggy, Jean and Ruby are the only living relatives of that generation. Ruby told me one day that she changes cars every 2 years because it gets dirty. Mom, 85, and Ruby, 92, are avid autioneers and travel the roads of Nova Scotia hunting for a new find. These 2 ladies are always searching for a laugh. Mom hears from Jean Olghren, who is 86, at Christmas from Thunder Bay. Auntie Peg, 75, resides in the Roseway Manor, Shelburne, NS. This is a beautiful residential care facility for alheizmers patients. We visited our auntie Peg yesterday and ate watermelon together....along with all the rest of the residents.

This has been a pleasure. Would love to get to know other members of the Firth family.
Lyn and Joyce
