Hi Teresa, I'm researching the Clarks in Horry Co SC and Mobile Co AL.I came across a John Thomas Clark (b 1753 Duplin Co NC, d 1839 Mobile AL); he married Elizabeth Phipps (b abt 1770 NC) in 1787 Duplin.Only one child is known Mary (b 1802 SC).I feel this may have been a 2nd marriage for Clark due to age difference.
An Elizabeth Clark is listed on the 1840 and 1850 Mobile Al census...age 81 in 1850 living with children/grandchildren.
Several Fipps names in Horry Co SC are the same as those earlier in Duplin NC. Along with a John Clark in Horry SC 1820, there was a Thomas Fipps (+45) and William Fipps (26-45) also listed.Would you know if this was the John Thomas Clark who married Elizabeth Phipps?
I'm looking for the father of Alexander Clark who married my 4th great-grandmother Mary (nee Stewart) Griffin in Mobile about 1809/10.Some of my Stewarts were also in Horry Co SC and surrounding counties 1790-1820.
Many thanks for any input, Lynda
