Finucane/Finnican and McMahon in Tarbert

We are trying to trace our roots back to Ireland. I know my GG Grandparents were from Kerry from what they listed on their headstones. We suspect they were from Tarbert and left for the US around 1860. My GGGrandparents were Thomas(1837b) and Mary A (McMahon)(1839b). Our name was changed to Finnican from what what we suspect was Finucane.
They came to the US and settled in Corning/Addison NY and eventually down to NYC. We are not sure why the name was changed and there are less than 40 Finnicans in the US that we know of. Any help would be appreciated
Very Best
Chris Finnican
