Noting the following posted message from GFM "I have also found that the death of Capt. Donat Finucane in Brighton. leaving a widow and 5 young children in poor circumstances, caused general compassion and the Prince Regent took over the maintenance and education of two of the sons. The 5th child was a son, b. Brighton 25 July 1800 (Gentleman's Magazine). The dau. Emma (in fact Emma Anne) m. Aug 1817 Lieut. Col. Horace Churchill, Grenadier Guards." As a descendent of Emma Finucane and Horace Churchill I have always been brought up to believe that George IV was the father of these children. Anne O'Brien was part of George IV’s louche coterie at Brighton and his lover. Previously married but divorced (1793) from Mattias Finucane. Donat (correspondent in the case) married her in 1794 but it is thought as a loyal subject he was covering for his sovereign's mistress. The sons, I believe were called George and Frederick. AW
