Hi Tony I do not have any family interests in the Finnucane name, My Irish lot came out from Plymouth in 1865 on a ship called " Golden City" . I searched the John Oxley Archives on the internet and found there was a file on the ship, so I requested it and when it finally turned up in a very large envelope I was very excited. Alas, the bulk of it was the diary of William Eugene Finnucane, very interesting tho !! Interestingly there was a passenger on the Golden City listed as A. Finnucane aged 19 . I wondered whether A. was also the same person as William but also in the file was a diary of the voyage over, author unknown, the cover is missing apparently and the author is obviously middle class by the comments he makes about the other passengers ! The writing on this diary is totally different to William's diary. Also, both diaries were found on a rubbish dump in PNG in 1965 and handed in to John Oxley. I have always posted the Finnicane name on any lists etc in my research in the hope that someone would claim him. If you want, I can send the diary on plus a copy of the voyage diary. I feel that the two are connected as they were both found together at the dump. I considered that William Eugene was already here and A. was a younger brother ? Look forward to hearing from you Tina Cairns Qld
