My husband's Finnies are from Galston area. Hugh Finnie b. Aug 1848 Rutherglen, Ayrshire. His brother James was born March 1856 Standalane, Loudon. Don't think this is your James, as he later married Elizabeth McMinn, but maybe they were cousins.
