I am looking for information about my ancestors. My great grandfather was David Finnie. He was a native of Scotland and was born in 1853.He was married to Helen Ballantyne of Downie Township, near St. Mary's Ontario. They moved to Saugeen Township near Port Elgin, Ontario Canada from St. Mary's Ontario in 1884. They purchased 80 acres on which my grandfather and father were born and my brother still lives. I have been told that our ancestors came from Aberdeen Scotland and that there were originally three brothers; one moved to Port Elgin, one stayed in St. Mary's and the other one moved to Peterborough. David and Helen had 6 children; Isabelle, Margaret, John, Agnes, Andrew (my grandfather) and Mary (Mae). All the children stayed in the area except for John who moved to Calgary.
David died in 1931 and Helen died in 1944. They are both buried in Sanctuary Park Cemetary in Port Elgin. Andrew Finnie married Edith Chappell. They had one son Murray (my father). Any information that could be supplied about where and when David came from Scotland, who his parents were, as well as where the other two brothers are would be greatly appreciated.
