were any Finney's part Native American? Kansas/Indiana

hi
This is my 3rd posting on this board. Hope one of my messages attracts someone's eye.
My great grandmother was Samantha Jane "Nancy" Finney. She married Abner Copeland. The family legend was that she was half or part Native American, and that she was so tough that many of her sons left the farm.
The legend said that a Copeland who was a Quaker, was sent to replace the 'thievin' Indian agents, and he fell in love with an Indian woman and married her. Does this legend sound familiar? That would have to mean Samantha and all her siblings were half or part Native American - and possibly had different parents than Wesley Finney and Mary Mathilda Hinshaw.
Ideas anyone? Thanks - Cousette Copeland - codyhaha@comcast.net
