Bill, thank you for your response. I appreciate the additional information. Also, I have rec'd information for the marriage date of James A. Finney and Sarah J. Pauley as written below per a message from Maynard McNeil who copied it from the Roanoke Library.
"1/16/1873, Wythe Co., Va.: Jas. A. Finney, age 20, single, born Yadkins, NC, son of O. B. Finney, married Sarah J. Pauly, age 20, single, b. Wythe Co., Va., dau. of Josiah Pauly."
And......
"12/29/1879, Wythe Co., Va.: Jos., K. Lanter, age 25, single, b. Wythe Co., son of Wm. Lanter, married Sarah J. Finne, 28, divorced, born Wythe Co., VA., dau. of Jos. Pauley."
I did not know until receiving this information that James A. Finney and Sarah J. Pauley had divorced. I thought that maybe James A. Finney had died and then Sarah remarried. I wish Maynard had written down the book from which he copied this information.
