hi i am interested in this thomas finney who, per the info below had sold land to william harris, who was an overseer at finneywood, which would have been in the lunenburg/ halifax cos, va area. does anyone on the finney forum have an interest in this thomas finney and could tell me more about him. thanks a lot. belva harris cauthen When John Stewart transferred some entries of land that he had made in 1737-38, Thomas Finny was a witness to the transaction. Finny was another very early settler and patented much land throughout the county, but more especially along Banister River, where he seemed to make his home. In 1746, William Harris was overseer at "Finnywood," and at this time Finny conveyed to him several entries of land. On one occasion Finny Isaac Winston, Jr., a "pistole" for 400 acres on Bye Creek of Banister River, a pistole being a spanish coin worth $4.67. This could hardly indicate the value of lands at that time. Notify Administrator about this message?
