Wife of Paul T. Negley (Ruth D. Finley) early 20th cent.
Paul T. Negley (1899-1937) married Ruth D. Finley (1899-1930) in Wellsburg, Brooke Co., WV in 1922.I have considerable information about Paul Negley, but Ruth Finley is still something of a puzzle.According to the WV marriage lisc., she was born in 1899 in Buffalo, NY, but was living in Pittsburgh at the time of the wedding.
I have identified two possible families for Ruth Finley, but neitherseems precisely right. The first family is found in the 1910 census for Ward 23, Buffalo, NY.The head of the family if George C. Finley, age 46; his wife, Minnie, age 45; and four children:Albert, age 19;George, age 17; William, age 15; and Ruth, age 8 (which means a birth year of 1902).
The second family (also from the 1910 census) is in Ward 14, Pittsburgh, PA.Ancestry.com has transcribed the surname as FINKEY, but looking at the actual census form, it could be FINLEY.Head of the family is William, age 55 and b. in Scotland; no wife; but, again, four children:Jane, age 25; Sophia, age 22;Ruth, age 13 (which means a birth year of 1897); and Elizabeth, age 19.Unfortunately, for my quest, the same family is still called FINKEY in 1920.
Who is Ruth D. Finley, b. 1899 in Buffalo and living in Pittsburgh in 1922 when she married Paul T. NEGLEY?Who are her parents?
This is part of my effort to track the descendants of Alexander Negley (1734-1809) of Pittsburgh.
Willing to share information.
