John Finley 1845 Virginia and possible connection to William Finley
Hello fellow Finley's,
I'm looking for information to connect my gr gr gr grandfather, John Finley, to William Finley b. 1792, Virginia, d. 27 May 1834, Harrison, Charles, West Virginia and Sarah A. Bailey b. 2 Jul 1798 Harrison, Charles, Virginia, d. Doddridge, Virginia. Members of ancestry.com say they are his parents, but give no proof. William and Sarah are listed as having a son named John, (again no proof is listed). Is this my John? Below is the info I have about my John:
John Finley, b. 1825 Virginia, d. 13 Dec 1864, Knox, Missouri
m. Elizabeth B. McIntosh (possibly 1845 in Virginia)
children:
Rebecca Ann 1845 - 1889
Sarah Ellen 1847 - 1907
Alcinda 1849 -
Matilda 1850
Elijah McIntosh (My gr gr grandfather) 1852 - 1926
Lovina 1854-1937
Mary Frances 1856 - 1934
Elizabeth 1857 - 1937
James William 1862 -
Nancy 1863 - 1934
The 1850 census have John and Elizabeth with Rebecca, Sarah, and Alcinda in District 63, Taylor, Virginia. In the 1860 census they are in Knox, Missouri. (Except for James and Nancy, who aren't born yet.)
After John died, Elizabeth took Alcinda, Elijah, Lovina, Elizabeth, Mary, James, and Nancy to Squaw, Warren, Iowa, where they appear on the 1870 census and by 1880 some were back in Missouri, while Elizabeth with James, Elizabeth, Alcinda, and Nancy stayed in Iowa. The family sort of bounced back and forth between Missouri and Iowa.
So,I looking for the next generation. Please, does anyone have proof that William and Sarah are indeed my John Finley's parents. PLEASE.

Delores
