Ms. Nancy Grogan? Any one? I noticed an old post by a Nancy Grogan information on a Daniel Finlayson. She is a decendant of John Finlayson born abt 1809. The only record I have for my great, great, grandfather Daniel is that he was married to a Charity Westbrook (of Fayetteville, NC). My Daniel was born in 1796 and family records state he died in Princeton, NC. Wayne County, NC Census lists him as a school teacher in 1850 (54 years old). I believe the Daniel mentioned by Ms. Grogan is the Daniel Finlayson I have been looking for. I have tried her email but it bounced back. I was wondering if she or anyone out there has found any more information regarding Daniel Finlayson of Cumberland County, NC. Ms. Grogan only listed the approximate birth years of two of the four sons of Angus Finlayson - John 1809 and Angus 1810. At the time she had no birth or death dates for the other two brothers Daniel and Alexander. My Daniel was born in 1796 - a good bit of time between Angus & John's birth years but not outside the realm of possibility. I see where other ancestors of mine were born that far apart...poor woman. Backstory: My father had researched not long before his passing - and found the information regarding a JOHN Finlayson that arrived in Philadelphia, PA 3rd qtr. 1774 aboard the ship GEORGE. Ms. Grogan's post stated this same information. What I didn't know was that he had only one song ANGUS b abt 1780 and married a Mary Stewart. Angus & Mary had four sons - John, Angus, Daniel, and Alexander. I have been trying off and on for years to make the connection from my great-great grandfather to the JOHN FINLAYON that stepped off that boat. Do shed light on me if you have any information. I will be happy to share my findings with you. Notify Administrator about this message?
