My gggg grandfather's port of departure to America was from Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland on the ship George. He arrived in Philadelphia, PA around 30 Sept. 1774. John was born in 1751.
Please let me know what you find out about your William Finlayson. There might be a connection.
