Margaret Finlayson was the daughter of Ann Mather & John Finlayson. The family was from Canada then moved to Detroit and owned a boarding house for sailors.
Margaret became a famous actress and used her Mother's maiden name Mather as her stage name.
Margaret died on stage while playing Imogene in "Cymbeline" in West Virgina 3 March, 1897. She owned her own production company at the time of her death.
The Finlayson's including Margaret are buried in Elmwood Cemetery in Detroit. Margaret's sister Flora Finlayson Murray Rowland is buried in Chicago, IL.( My Great -Great Grandmother).
Ann Mather Finlayson is buried at Elmwood Cemetery. I tried to get her death certificate in Wayne Co. I was told she didn't die in Detroit.
