Hi
I just found this site and was amazed at the information regarding the Finlayson family.I am a descendant of Nicol Finlayson (born 1794)who was stationed in the Red River Settlement. He was given an "Indian" name by the Ojibway and Oji-Cree, it was Misquikwenini (man from red earth).Nicol, Duncan, Anne and Alexander were all fathered by a Kenneth Finlaison who remained in Scotland.Nicol was Duncan's oldest brother.I have previously corresponded with James Fortier however have not contacted him lately.I am in the process of doing more research for an essay I am writing on the Metis and how the Finlayson family contributed.I need information on the Finlayson's of Scotland especially Kenneth (the father), Ann and Alexander (two siblings) and would appreciate if anyone could help me.Not only am I doing this for a paper but also for family tree research.
