This is probably the last thing on your mind at the moment, but- If you happen to come across the reason why he changed his surname to Mackie, let me know. I have quite a few relatives from Ylistaro/Lapua area, and for some reason, the surname changed to Maki/Mackie. I know it isn't unusual to change the surname, especially with the farmnames, but it all happened for my relatives at the time of immigration.

I'm going to dig in my notes to see if I can't find Maenpaa- seems to me, I've seen that before... I'll let you know!
