Hi again!
After reading your last posting I would be willing to take the risk and say that your ggrandfather never actually lived or had ancestors/relations in Hanko. If you look at the map of Finland you will notice that Oulu is quite up north and Hanko on the southwestern coast.Migration inside the country in that particular direction would have been very unlikely ( but not impossible ).
Hanko or Hankoniemi ( Cape Hanko ) was the port most commonly used for emigration. They would have travelled (probably by train) from Oulu to Hanko. See his emigration route in http://www.netti.fi/~kpaanane/asemat2.htm#line2http://www.netti.fi/~kpaanane/asemat2.htm#line2 .
If you want to find family in Finland, you should be searching in the Oulu area. Oulun lääni means Oulu province which at the time contained a big part of Northern Finland.
This does not mean I wouldn´t be willing to help :-)
If you want to find living relatives in Finland, you could write to Oulu congration and verify the ancestry of your ggf and ggm. The records are not online yet :-(
